The selected candidate will create working shop drawings of a very complex nature using advanced detailing techniques, from engineering documents, that are used to support shop fabrication on various construction projects. This is accomplished by coordinating drawings with other trades and working closely with other BIM Managers and department Heads.
Primary Responsibilities of Electrical BIM Manager Include:
- Produce electrical design documents for construction projects utilizing Revit
- Express Electrical Department in BIM clash detection conferences/meetings to organize electrical 3D models among architectural studio, electrical contractors, and other engineering streams
- Further, increase Electrical Department’s library of Revit groups
- Ensure technical quality and performance of department’s BIM standards and procedures
- May provide technical guidance to junior electrical designers in the creation of construction agreement documents
- Create electrical drawings for facilities, such as lighting systems, power systems, communications, security and fire detection in assent with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Works independently with minimum supervision, and able to thrive in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline project team environment
- Develop entry-level drawings by using computer-aided design software under the direct administration of other Electrical Technicians or Engineers
- Demonstrate knowledge of procedures for production of design developments and construction documents, and a thorough understanding of engineering planning, drafting and detailing
Basic Qualifications of a BIM Manager:
- 3 or more years of job experience in the creation of electrical engineering contract reports using Revit for business or industrial projects
- Practical knowledge of electrical construction system designs including manufacturing practices, construction materials and methods, principles, current technology and the development and use of agreement documents in all aspects of construction and design
- Skilled in the use of Navisworks and similar 3D project simulation software
- Proficient in the use of Autodesk Revit MEP and AutoCAD for electrical design and analysis
- Ability to combine 3D modeling concepts to teams
- Experience of being a professional resource for explaining Revit theories to new users
- Basic knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam
Required Education of a BIM Manager:
Minimum Highschool with a technical certification in electrical design, graduate from a trade school in the field of electrical design or contracting, graduate of a non-accredited engineering school or equivalent relevant experience.
